The Warriors of Troy :: RTW Multiplayer Campaign - Amber (no.1)
No more stupid moves by AI, like sending a diplomat to say
"Please do not attack us"
"Accept or we will attack"
Also, i asked this already, but i didnt explain myself properly.
Say if i made a diplomatic alliance with Vladimir, and things were going very well, then Vladimir goes to war with Egypt.
Say then, Egypt is more advanced than Greece, and its showing in the battle results as Egypt systematically wins battle after battle (autoresolved, i know), but I am more advanced than Egypt.
I know i can send an army to aid my Ally, but they remain in my control, its upto me to move them and make them fight, siege, run etc.
What i wondered was is there a way i can actually SEND Greece some units, like a tribute or a gift, and then they are controlled by Vladimir, not me. Vladimir can then have Roman units aiding his Greek units, but he chooses where they go, which army stack they are in etc.
I was, very briefly, involved in a Multiplayer Campaign like this one at TWC, and we were able to do this, to send units that the other player could take control of on the campaign map.
The only downside was you would have to remember what units they were as there unit card displays peasants, but the unit itself is whatever you have sent!
Made for much better diplomacy, adding some more bargaining tools to utilise.
OK, I'll give an update on what i can offer so far for this to start!
I have Myrddraal Script Generator, which is the main component needed to run HOTSEAT on RTW. Unfortunately if you pick any more than one Roman faction to be human controlled, it CTD's, so going Rome is out of the question.
I do however, have Myddraals permission to use his generator ANY WAY i please, including within mods.
I have also been in contact with Valerius Tibilius at TWC, the person who created Augustus! Those of you familiar with TWC will know what this is, ill give a brief explanation for those that dont know!
Augustus is a mod created by Valerius that allows you to play a HOTSEAT in RTW, using Myrddraal script generator, but he added some extras, including getting rid of rebels and allowing for UNIT TRADESbetween human controlled factions.
During the very first Augustus Campaign, i was Scythia and i had deals in place to provide HH Maidens in exchange for Phalanx Pikemen and Armoured Hoplites, and also to provide Chosen Archers in exchange for Cataphracts.
Unfortunately due to inactivity Augustus in Vanilla RTW died, however it remains strong on a lot of mods.
When i contacted Valerius, i asked him if i could have access to his mod, for us to use. I also asked that if he no longer has it, or is unwilling to share it, if he could help me replicate a mod of my own to serve the same purpose.
He has since replied to me, saying i have his full permission to use his files for whatever purpose i please, and to try and replicate my own if i so wish. The only one problem is he doesnt know where these files are as he doesnt play RTW much anymore.
However he has said he will try and locate them, and if not he will instruct me on how to create a similar mod.
If we get this, it means we can do a hotseat campaign on RTW, and we can also trade units between factions. Only bad thing is only one person can be Roman, or even better i'd say NO-ONE go Roman, as everyone has done a Roman campaign.
But knowing who will be taking part, as the list of people currently interested is pretty outdated, is all important. Personally, like with the M2TW Hotseat I'd rather set a cap on how many human controlled factions we have, maybe 8 as RTW is more popular than M2TW so more should be interested.
I have spoken to some on you on XFire regarding this, and if this is the way we move forwards with this Multiplayer Campaign, we all need to pick new Factions. From XFire convo so far i have
Egypt - Dafuge
Greek City States - Emperor Vladimir
Carthage - Consul Mehmet
Macedon - Simo
Seleucids - Confused Johnny
Also, as with M2TW Hotseat i was thinking of same sort of rules regarding days per turn, HARD/HARD difficulty and AUTO RESOLVE all battles.
So reply away, say what you think about using new mod, about unit trades option, about factions so far, about NO ROMAN rule, about anything as long as its about starting this HOTSEAT!
EDIT
Can you tell im loving HOTSEATS at the moment?
Im all over the place sorting them! Kingdoms ones, M2TW ones, now nearly getting my hands on the mother of all RTW ones!
